At each field day there is: Equipment Identification Parasite Identification Breed Identification Practicums and a General Knowledge test Click here for the National FFA Veterinary Science Handbook (curriculum begins on page 12) *ONLY* for the National Contest General Knowledge (100 points) 50 Multiple Choice Questions pulled from a bank of 300 questions about the Veterinary field Breed Identification (100 points) 50 Breeds of Various Species Tool/Equipment Identification (150 points) 75 Pieces of Tools and Equipment Parasite Identification (50 points) 25 Parasites Practicums (150 points) Three practicums worth 50 points each that are selected from a list of 11 that changes every year. |
Ponderosa FFA has had a Veterinary Science Judging Team for the past three years. The chapter had a Specialty Animal Judging Team for a number of years before the contest was officially changed to Veterinary Science in 2013. Ponderosa's Veterinary Science Team is coached by the ROP Animal Health teacher Mrs. Julie Gilroy, RVT. The team is made up of a dedicated group of students who have a passion for Veterinary Medicine.
